Hello, my name is Jeffrey Kirk. Hey, I’ve got a couple jokes for you today… The idea of a contact us page is pretty dry so I thought I would see what a couple different AI’s could come up with.
So, I asked Bard for a joke about contact us pages and it suggested this… “What’s the difference between a contact us page and a black hole? “A black hole actually responds to your messages.”
And, I asked ChatGPT for a joke as well. And it suggested this one… “Why did the ‘Contact Us’ page get mad at the website designer? “Because it felt like it was getting too much attention, but not enough action!”
So, what do you think? Leave a comment and let me know which one you like better.
Now, in all seriousness, have you ever come across a website where you want to get the business contact information but when you click the contact link it just opens your own email window to send them a message? Or maybe you want to reach out to a specific business, but you can’t even figure out how to do it on their website? These are problems! Serious problems.
Contact Us Page
A good contact us page on your website should make it convenient for customers and prospects to reach your business in a way that works best for them. Therefore, a great contact us page is one that effectively communicates how these people can get in touch with the business, and it makes it easy for them to do so whenever they want, however they want.
Besides allowing customers and prospects to send a message at a time that is convenient for them, you can also measure the usefulness of the page, potentially tracking the inquiries made, and then, use this information to improve your business.
Your contact us page is a very visible part of your overall customer support. And it speaks volumes whether it’s there or not, and whether it’s useful or not. And amazing customer support always creates a better user experience and greater loyalty.
So here are some key elements that define a great contact us page…
#1 – A great contact us page gives clear contact information.
Your page should include your business’s phone number, an email address, and a physical address (if applicable). And all this should be in a prominent location that is easy to find. That means this information must be easy to see on the contact us page, and the link to the contact us page must also be easy to find.
Most people look for the link in the upper right on a desktop browser. If on a mobile device, the link should be at the top or easily found in the main menu. Within the page itself, make sure the information is free of typographical errors, and make sure all the details are correct and up to date.
You don’t want to lose a potential customer because of a wrong number or a wrong address, right?
#2 – A great contact us page has a contact form.
A contact form allows customers to send a message directly to the business without having to navigate away from the website or return to their email. Many people prefer to avoid talking on the phone, especially if the relationship is new or they’re just looking for a quick answer to a question. Others would prefer not to send an email.
Some people will like the convenience of filling out a contact form right when they’re thinking about it and then they’ll continue browsing your website. If they’re looking for a contact form, you don’t want to lose them by not having the option they want, do you?
So instead of just providing your email address as a contact method, let your visitors decide how they want to contact you. The contact form itself should be easy to use and include fields for the customer’s name, their email address, and their message. You can include more fields, but the more you require, the fewer inquiries you’re going to get.
#3 – A great contact us page includes your business hours.
If your business has standard hours of operation, clearly show this information on the contact us page. This helps your customers and prospects know when they can expect a response.
It’s not always obvious what time of day is the best time to call a business. When you show your hours, you are giving guidance, helping them reach out when you can best help them. Without this information you might get calls at any time, day or night.
Of course, if you have people ready to answer the phone 24/7, then you don’t care what time the calls come in. But even in that case it’s still best to be clear about it, and tell your site visitors that they can call at any time. Without communicating properly, you’re potentially sending your customers away.
#4 – A great contact us page has social media links.
Including links to your business’s social media pages gives customers another way to get in touch or stay updated on the latest news and promotions from your company.
With more than 4.65 billion social media users on the planet, most of your customers and prospects are already out there. So, it’s good to encourage them to follow your social media accounts too. Not only can they interact with your social media page, but they can also reach out and contact you through those accounts. And if they’re seeing your business on their favorite social media platform, it’s a convenient way for new prospects to make contact.
#5 – A great contact us page has a clear call-to-action.
A call-to-action is a way to tell your audience what to do next. It makes the next step clear. And having calls-to-action are important because a call-to-action helps your prospects or clients continue their customer journey with your business.
And why is this important? It’s important to tell your audience what to do next because there may be a disconnect between what they are thinking and the action you want them to take. If your customers or prospects are confused, it’s most likely they’ll do nothing other than leave your site. And that is not what you want. That doesn’t help them, and it certainly doesn’t help you! So, your contact us page should include a clear call-to-action that encourages your site visitors to reach out to your business with any questions or concerns they may have.
Conclusion
Having a great contact page is important for businesses because it helps build trust with prospects and customers and it makes it easier for them to engage with your business.
When customers can easily find your contact information and reach out to your business with the questions or concerns they have, they are more likely to feel valued and supported.
Additionally, a great contact page can help your business gather valuable feedback from your customers and potentially identify areas for improvement. And remember, your contact us page fits into the overall flow of your website. The entire user experience of your site must support those who visit. It should be easy and convenient to use.
And you should have a clear strategy to help you reach new prospects who are interested in your services and convert that interest into revenue. Now that your contact page is in good shape, how would you like to get more new prospects showing up?
