For a website to convert visitors into customers the site must connect with the reader. The problem with many websites is that they are more focused on the business than on their prospect.
When someone arrives at your website they are trying to solve a problem going on in their life, whether personal or business. They don’t really care about your business, at least not as much as they care about their problem.
What they need from your business is comfort in knowing that you can help them solve their issues. You can achieve that if you are talking to visitor and connecting with what is going on in their mind.
You might have the best solution available for them, but if your website presents it as “we do this” and “we do that” you will not have as big an impact compared to saying, “you get this” and “you get that”.
It is easier for your visitors to make the connection of your solution and their problem if you are telling them the benefits they receive rather than the things you offer.
Take a critical look at your website. How much do your talk about your own business relative to your focus on your prospects.
Here’s a nifty tool that can help you quantify how well you’re doing. Just click here to visit the Customer Focus Calculator. You will put in your website URL and your company name. Then click the Calculate Customer Focus button to see your score.
After you get your results, you might want to make some changes to your site. Of course, if you are customer-focused already, congratulations are in order!
