And that means the digital population is growing bigger and bigger, so establishing an online presence is more important today than it was yesterday. And it will be even more important tomorrow. The internet has greatly transformed how we reach out and connect to people all over the world, and it’s a great platform to share information and provide services.
With more than 409 million people who view blog posts every month, appearing at the top of the search results can drive a lot of revenue-generating traffic to your website. And blogging is a great way to create online visibility while connecting and engaging with your audience.
Blogs are a perfect channel to provide relevant content for your visitors. And good content keeps them hanging around on your website for a while. And with time on your site, you build trust and increase the chances that visitors will become buyers.
Investing in your own blog, and creating content about your business, not only establishes your authority in your industry, but doing so also connects your business to your target audience. And this connection begins when searchers find the answers to their questions in your blog.
Here are 5 reasons why you should start a blog if you don’t already have one.
Reason #1 – To connect with your audience
Blogging helps keep your customers informed about any new updates about your business. By constantly sharing new content, people get to know and trust your brand even more. Your customers will also be able to share feedback and reviews about your products and services, and by doing so, may help attract new readers.
Having up-to-date content makes your website appear relevant and authoritative. And that’s why keeping it updated is important. Fresh content also gives your audience a reason to keep coming back.
Remember, your customers are looking for answers to their problems, and they appreciate it when you give them those answers in your blog.
Reason #2 to start a blog – To drive more traffic to your website
Who doesn’t want more traffic to their site? Well, blogs are a great way to do that!
Let’s face it. Social exposure is important. And the more content and blog posts that you create, the more chances you have to show up in the search results and get search traffic.
Ranking in organic search results provides a better chance to reach an audience that is looking to purchase your products and services because they already have the intent to buy whatever it is they’re searching for. And, in that case, more traffic leads to more sales, and more revenue.
Great content provides value for your audience. In return, they are more likely to connect with your business and eventually make a purchase. And the more audience you are able to attract, and the more often they come back, the more chances you get to win a new client.
And this leads me to the next point which is your site’s search engine optimization.
Reason #3 to start a blog – To boost your SEO strategy
Well-written blog posts with the correct title, meta description, keywords, images, and internal linking help boost your site’s SEO, giving you more exposure for more topics, and more search keywords and phrases.
When you have relevant content that links to other blog posts and other pages of your site, you start to create pathways for visitors and for search engines to follow. When people share your blog posts to various social media platforms, this gives even more exposure, opening your site to a broader audience, and reaching more people than with search engines alone.
However, you have to remember that your content is for those who visit your site. You cannot add content for the sole purpose of ranking in the search results. That will backfire.
Reason #4 – To build your website’s credibility
Website credibility is vital when attracting new clients. Most people who arrive at your website for the first time probably have no idea about your business, so your goal is to introduce your brand and instill a sense of trust. That might not be easy, but it’s definitely worth your time and effort.
When your visitors finally trust your brand, it creates a ripple effect. They start telling other people about your services and give great reviews which lead more people to start noticing your brand.
But this is not a one-time task. Regularly updating your content shows that your site is active and up to date. Fresh content contributes to your credibility and trustworthiness.
Reason #5 to start a blog – To provide a better user experience
Making sure you provide content that gives your site visitors what they are looking for. Solving their problems should be your blog’s main priority.
According to Google, a key consideration to how well your website shows up in the search results is user experience. And providing a great user experience means creating good content that provides the information that searchers are looking for.
Consistency Beats Intensity
Overall, creating and maintaining a blog does take some time and maybe even some patience, but you have got to continue doing it consistently. But how much is consistent? A phrase I like is that consistency beats intensity. I have seen some businesses go out, get a dozen blog posts written, post them all in one day, and then they’re done.
That’s intensity, 12 posts all at once. Consistency would be 1 post a week or even 1 post a month. At that pace, those 12 posts could last a year. And that is better. Figure out a frequency that works for your business and stick with it. And try to keep it fun. Sharing ideas and helping people with their problems helps you build a community of people around your business.
Of course, having a blog on your website is only one piece of the pie. There are many different things you can and should be doing to increase traffic to your website and get that traffic to convert into new customers and new clients.
